Tino’s Winter Hat and Coat

Oh boy! This one actually took me several days of making but the end result was totally worth it. Tino (my li’l dog) maybe doesn’t love it quite as much as I do. This is the third project I’ve ever attempted on a sewing machine and my first project (since high school home ec. class) working from a purchased pattern. I do wish I had picked a less fluffy fleece for my first time out the gate but it has sparkles! I got the pattern at JoAnns where, of course, I ran into my grandma. She did a wonderful job of hiding any eye-rolls and pointed out that the patterns were on sale. After we had both checked out, she showed me some centerpieces in her car that she’d been working on for her 65th high school reunion. The pattern had a lot of great options:

I was torn between options A and E, but Mike wanted E and D. So I decided to start with E. I leaned toward pink but Mike joined me at the fabric store and was quite set on blue – because it’s wintry. That’s when I found that cursed sparkly fleece. Anyways after lots of cutting and pinning (who knew there was so much cutting and pinning!?) and a good amount of sewing, I wound up with a finished product. I didn’t even cry once! The photo shoot on the other hand was very tricky. Tino actually seems to like wearing coats- but hats not so much. I’m hoping we can try it out outside next time it snows. Below are some glamour shots: (pardon our feet: it really was quite the undertaking getting ANY photos)

And some bloopers because they’re also freakin’ cute:
