Today I made some sugar/butter/something cookies. I have only been cooking and baking for a very short while and so far my primary guide on that journey has been the Smitten Kitchen. I find recipes on her website that look (and always are) delicious and then she’s kind enough to post photos of what things should look like along the way. My husband has been out of town for a few weeks and got back late tonight so I decided to have some sugar cookies made for his return. I searched the Smitten Kitchen website and here’s what I found: https://smittenkitchen.com/2006/08/punishment-sandwiches/ .
One of the many things I love about Deb, the genius behind the Smitten Kitchen, is her love of a food processor. These cookies were made fully in a food processor and even though I put WAY too much butter in at first and had to measure it back out (I have 6 tablespoons of whipped butter now for something?), it was still quick and easy. Though mine didn’t turn out quite as sandy as hers sounded, they were still yummy as heck. My biggest challenge though was knowing when they were done. I should also mention, this was my ONLY cookie cutter that wasn’t Halloween themed.
Here they are going in:

And here they are after coming out:

I think I could have left one tray in a few minutes longer but overall I was still happy with them. That said, my mom’s sugar cookies are still my personal favorite. I’ll have to get that recipe from her and try them out. I filled up a tin with the cooled-off cookies and my husband was drawn to them the second he walked in the door 🙂 Definitely a success!
